Ultrasonic cleaners may not be a familiar concept to many, but they have been around for a long time, helping us to stay healthy and improving productivity in the workplace.
Removing contaminants and germs can be a time-consuming task, but these machines virtually do the job for you.
Here are five facts about them which may encourage you to explore the market.
1. What Is an Ultra-Sonic Cleaning Machine?
It uses ultrasound and water, or a special solvent, to remove germs, dirt and contaminants when items are placed in the tank. Some small units can be used at home to clean jewellery, children’s clothes and toys as well as food and many other small items. Desktop-size units are often used in labs to clean glass and other scientific items. Finally, a large ultrasonic cleaner may be found in an industrial setting. A large ultrasonic cleaner is available from various suppliers.
The Health and Safety Executive has carried out research into the uses of these units.
2. Cleaning Time
It depends, of course, on just how dirty the item you are cleaning is or how pristine you need it to be at the end of the process. Anything between two to ten minutes is the normal cycle, although you may need to repeat the process. Many machines will offer differing cycles, reducing the supervision time.
3. The Cleaning Process
Just as in any traditional cleaning procedure, it is important to follow some basic steps to ensure the best results. If there are a number of contaminants, then a pre-rinse in warm water is advisable. If you are using a portable machine, you can place items in a sink before beginning the cleaning process. You may wish to rinse after cleaning, although this is not necessary if you are using the correct cleaning fluid.
4. What Items Can Be Cleaned?
As explained above, there is a wide range of uses for ultra-sonic cleaning, from small domestic items through scientific equipment to large industrial parts. There are also some portable units that can be used to clean clothes which are placed within laundry machines.
5. Maintenance
Do not operate in low levels of fluid, do not let the implement to touch the bottom of the tanks, ensure it does not sit on a damp surface and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
